Progress at Mellieha

Well it certainly has been a very busy 6 months here at Mellieha. We have finally had our planning granted and managed to improve the guest house considerably. The two rooms on the first floor have had substantial changes made to them. We now have a large kingsize room with separate seating area and beautiful views of Carmarthen Bay. The twin room, also on this floor, offers fantastic views over the Valley and garden and has completely new ensuite facilities.

On the ground floor we have incorporated a balcony area to the superior room which has given it a wonderful new aspect.

Our other exciting news is that we have won the regional gold award for Wales from our online booking partners Eviivo. We were delighted with this award, particularly as it is our guests reviews that have led to this accolade and we would like to thank everyone for their wonderful comments.

I have added some of the latest photos of the new rooms and of the award presented to us by Eviivo.

Mellieha garden

A visiting bug . Does anyone know what it is?

June

Its Summer in Amroth. We have certainly had some lovely weather this month and I have attached some photos Stuart has taken of the garden in bloom. His hard work has certainly produced some beautiful results. Now that the pond is established , following last years repairs, we have purchased a new bench so that visitors can sit and enjoy the wonderful Dragonflies.

Our wildlife visitors continue to enthrall us, this week we have had a buzzard sitting in the tree near the pond and also a young fox cub took a walk around the decking at breakfast.Of course we continue to enjoy the antics of our local badgers. One of the photos posted is of a bug we found in the car park ,if anyone has an idea of what it is we would love to hear from you.

As to local news we are pleased to announce that Amroth has regained its Blue Flag status. I believe that Pembrokeshire has the highest number of Blue Flag beaches in Wales.Work has also started on repairing the groines on the beach at the Castle and also the access ways to the beach.

Guests staying this month have certainly enjoyed the beautiful weather and have taken many walks especially in to Colby Woodland Gardens where the flowers and the home made cakes in the cafe are a definite attraction

What to do when you spend a weekend at a B&B in Pembrokeshire. All photos kindly provided by Natalie and Chris.Thank You

First Blog

  • Well this is my first attempt to write a blog. With our new web site up and running we thought it would be a good way to bring people up to date with the news in the area. We have just had a beautiful Bank holiday weekend in Pembrokeshire (despite the forecast) very little rain and lots of sunshine. Our guests have had a brilliant time with visits to Skomer to see the Puffins. watch this space as we are waiting for their photos and will then post some. Pembrokeshire tourism have also just informed us that the Pembrokeshire National Coastal Park has recently been named the top coastal path in the UK.. we are very lucky to live here.
Our new site is just about ready to launch. Watch this space.
